I began painting seriously in 2002 having woken up one day wondering what would be my regret if I was told I had only months to live. I realized that I needed to start painting seriously and have been producing large scale figurative works ever since.
I use drawings from life, photographs and my knowledge of anatomy from training as an occupational therapist to produce works of movement and passion. In my earlier paintings the figures were ambiguous in their gender leaving the viewer to speculate as to the sexuality of the kissing couple. The images capture a moment in time when two people embrace. More recently I have been painting my girlfriend Kate and our dog Bertie, exploring the relationship between human and pet, the comfort they offer and the opportunity to live in the moment.
I was raised in East Anglia and now live in Norwich. I have also lived and worked in France where I trained in fine art at l'ecole des beaux arts in Bourges. I worked for many years as an occupational therapist in the NHS and now also practice privately having gained further qualifications as a Drama therapist and life coach.
My work is collected both in the UK and internationally and I have also undertaken a number of commissions here and in Europe. Please contact me via email if you wish to commission a painting.
